Kennedy Original Irish Whiskey 750ml

So this week as a change of pace let’s review another whiskey. No wait – it’s an Irish Whiskey, which therefore makes it more unique that our scotch-reviews-every-week trend of late.

kennedy

This one is called Kennedy and is the original, despite that though it’s not going to kill a hooker, but that’s mostly because it lacks any sort of power (So it’s the current state of the Kennedy family) This I assume started out as a whiskey but whatever ‘fusion’ nonsense they’ve done has ruined it.

What they Say: “Kennedy’s Spirit is a delicate fusion of the finest Celtic whiskies and malt to insure a unique, challenging and august drinking experience. Kennedy’s Spirit, handcrafted in West Cork, Ireland, is infused with Irish and Bourbon oak using a proprietary infusion process and steeped in malt through an artisan and near-forgotten technique. The resurrection of this lost steeping process insures to marry a smooth and clean finish whilst retaining a vibrant and distinctive character. Kennedy’s is inspired by Ireland’s proud and approachable ethos to guarantee satisfaction. ”

Taste: 5.0 – It starts off almost like it’s going to be a nice whiskey, but it’s quickly interrupted

Aftertaste: 3.0 –  By attacking you with caramel and vanilla flavoring. There’s a bit of malt and smoke in there, but it’s being held back.

Burn/Smooth: 8.0 – In part because of the above domination the actual burn is non-existent, and there’s enough of a warmth to remind you it’s a whiskey.

Aroma: 6.5 – It’s got a nice smell to it.

Honesty: 3.5 – FUSION. Seriously I read the back of the bottle and I wonder which hipster they killed and stole it from. It’s disjointed, and clashing, and overall rubbish. The only reason it gets some points is I feel like if I tried to tell an Irishman this whiskey is shite, he’d punch me.

Mixability: 3.75

W/ Rocks: 3.5 – I had hoped for a brief second that I found my whiskey, but then the aftertaste came back in full force.

Whiskey and Ginger Ale: 4.0 – See it’s just too sweet.

Value: 4.0 – Sadly there’s just not a lot there to be excited about, so while that’s not terribly expensive as far as Irish Whiskey tiers go, it’s overall disappointing.

Google Shop Average: $17

Final Thoughts: I think I said it best above, this isn’t bad, but it is disappointing.

  1. I found it to be extremely informative but then again I think it would matter upon what your level of alcohols and whiskeys in particular are. As in mind that are zero . I found this to be plummeted but that’s just Imo
