Foliage Report: 7.0 – It’s a dubbel which is a welcome sight after not seeing one for a while. It is appropriately enough crisp and malty with some spices. Not insanely good but the right kind of beer you’d want drinking outdoors in the fall.

Well folks let’s close out the year in the traditional style – by which we mean another on the list of cheap vodkas that are cheap for a reason. The reason being that they suck. This generic entry is Copper Plate vodka which makes you think there might be some electrolyzing or other shit going on to make it perfect – they themselves assure you that it is flawless. Well we here at Honest Booze Reviews are here to tell you the truth, and we’re not even gonna hide it behind the fold – this vodka sucks shit.
Dickermann: 3.0 – It’s a nice light beer with just a bit of spice and clove sort of flavor. It’s okay, but forgettable almost instantly, which is unfortunate given the uncommonness of lagers and Helles style.

Merry Christmas week everyone, before we begin the review of this really good tequila – a quick PSA. This comes in a wooden box, said back of wooden box is only really tacked shut – as such be wary of the back falling out and with it your bottle. We speak from first hand experience watching a ~$200 bottle tumble to the floor (luckily to carpet; unbroken), and if you are reading this before buying and bringing home – just make sure it’s on a secure surface because you really don’t want to risk a drop of what’s inside.
Pisces Gose: 2.0 – It’s not a great gose. The sea water aspect they mention adds saltiness, but it’s not really tasty.

We first had a sample of this back on a whiskey Wednesday event, and given the course of that was a few folks and multiple tastings one after the other without a proper tasting it earned a solid A. Now though 3 years later it’s time to put it under the lights properly and see whether the Lore of this whiskey holds up. In short it does, but if you’re encountering this review due to a frantic google search in the local liquor store seeing if this is up to snuff – you likely have already spotted the main downside, namely the price tag.
Peanut Butter Milk Stout: 6.5 – That does what it says on the tin baby – which given the words peanut butter and milk stout is awesome. You get a little bit more peanut butter at first, but it’s got an almost creamy vibe towards the end. (Editor’s Note: we apologize for the usage of the words creamy vibe whilst discussing a beaver beer). As far as peanut butter beers go we prefer Ballast Point’s Victory at Sea, but then we also haven’t reviewed that on the site. For this – aside from the lingering aftertaste being a weird mesh of flavor instead of just more nuttiness is the real sour point.

Now this is not aged as long as – well we don’t know because it’s a blend, but it’s shorter than the 18 year we’ve had on this site ages ago (and still love dearly for it’s ability to mix well). The trick they’ve taken with this one is instead of aging in American or French oak barrels (as is the common way) they’ve opted for some Japanese ‘Mizunara’ oak instead for both added rarity and presumably to make headway into the large Japanese loving whiskey market.The problem is that because this seems like an idea cooked up no less than maybe 5-10 years ago, it might need some more time in that Mizunara.
Wandering Haze: 6.5 – Taking another chance on Hazy IPAs to see if there’s a trend, and the answer is yes – Hazy IPAs are the way forward for the IPA type of beer. (Okay Milk IPAs too). There’s hops and bitterness, but there’s also a healthy amount of citrus and it’s incredibly pleasant to drink.
