If you are here for our take on this whiskey and willing to accept us at our word – don’t. If however, you are here for a reason you fully know why (because some sort of machismo old-timey boxing bullshit check-in) then we guess you should read further so that we can wholeheartedly change your mind.

Two Roads Peach Jam Wheat Beer
Peach Jam: 3.5 – This is a nothing beer, sure it has a mild peach taste but it’s gone is seconds. And even that was unremarkable. It’s a beer where 1 minute after finishing it if someone asked to describe it you’d have nothing to say. It’s not bad but not even middle of the road.

Don Julio ‘Reserva de Don Julio’ Anejo Tequila 750mL
Tequila is often considered a drink for all parties involved – as long as you mind the age. For the young it’s silver or rotgut gold shot so fast into your body it might as well be the bullet that kills you. As you get past those ’20s and ’30s though looking for something to sip quietly and in small quantities – you reach for an Anejo. This would normally be the bit where we undercut that with a past review, but it seems we’re starting at the Anejo and working backward.
Back East Brewing Company Summer Ale
Summer Ale: 1.0 – There are a lot of hit or miss summer ales in terms of being the perfect beer, or perfect for the moment after a long hot day. This is neither of those. It is without a doubt one of the worst summer ales this reviewer has ever had.
Editor’s Note: This has been reviewed before in a different format & year (draft v. cans)

Thimble Island Brewing Ruby Tart Blonde Ale
Ruby Tart Blonde Ale: 3.5 – The name thimble may be the company but in terms of this ‘tart blondge’ I suspect only a thimble of a true sour is in this beer. It is otherwise just a slightly odd but basic ale. While that makes it easy to drink it’s not stellar.

El Peloton de la Muerte Mezcal Blanco 750mL
Alright, that’s far too much whiskey for Father’s day timing, now let’s go with something my father would actually drink (he only drinks on Christmas, and always tequila). This is a Mezcal, but it’s not like that should matter right – there’s no substantive reason why it’d be considered anything less than tequila? Right?
Rogue Brewery Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout
Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout: 6.0 – This is for the true real deal fans of Oatmeal beers, because dear god is that majorly all you get. Sure there’s a bit of some roasted stout flavor, but unlike some other Oatmeal stouts which are lacking in a flavor falling back to being a typical but lightly tweaked stout – here’ they’ve gone full on. The downside of that is – well you have to be a fan of that, which we were not.

Bulleit Rye 12 Year Old Straight American Whiskey 750mL
So we have recently had the Bulleit 95, but thanks to our Father’s Day gift of whiskies to recommend we have the 12 year and figured we’d put this one on the usual Wednesday. This too unlike Cascade was also just a sample size, but unlike that French Oak Crown Royale – we wish we had a full bottle of this.
