Gulden Fraug Belgian Style Ale: 6.0 – The consensus on this beer is that while it’s nifty with the nutty and banana flavors (really feels like banana bread), and that overall it’s a good beer – it was not the beer we wanted. It sadly suffered a bit by being used during a summer cookout, but also because when you get a golden belgianyou are looking for something like a quad without a heads up.

Once again in honor of Father’s day, we have another week of Whiskey on a Monday (the name of our Bukowski themed only-covers band). While we were not sent a full bottle of this like Cascade, we understand because this Crown Royal is nobler than that, and with a price to match. The quality though – well let’s just say there’s a reason we put this after the actual day we were asked to recommend it for.
Handline Kolsch: 5.0 – It’s a pretty okay Kolsch. We do love a good Kolsch, but this is just way too muted, both in and out of the can.

Caramel Nyx: 8.0 – We’ve had Nyx before, and it can’t be understated that we are huge fans. There is just so few beers that are as good as Nyx and are not priced crazy. So what happens if you were to add caramel? Well pretty much exactly what you’d expect. The addition makes Nyx a little bit more coffee like, but it’s still amazingly delicious.

Apologies if you feel by the calendar of our reviews that today is Wednesday, but we’ve made this and next week a bit special with whiskey for father’s day. This is primarily because we were given two spirits to review and possibly recommend for father’s day, and we start with this – Cascade a whiskey that has instructions for fishing on it.
Sweatpants Pale Ale: 6.0 – It drifts a bit into a creamy IPAs which is not a complaint. It really has that like soft velvet kinda feel, but the flavor isn’t mind-blowing. We guess its meant to be a comforting drink, which it succeeds at doing.

We mentioned the week before about giving out a gift for the Christmas season (we know it’s April, friends in other states does this), and this is the companion piece – the gift to the lounge. We are willing to admit that in a blind buy we got better than we gave. While there are some niggling details here to stop this from being a darling, it’s a fine gift.
Oxbow Cherry Jackpot: 6.5 – Its certainly a nice cherry sour, and there is a nice sort of cream after kick. However, being Oxbow you kind of expected more. Still, though a solid beer if your into that type.
