Firestone Walker 19th Anniversary Ale
Firestone Walker 19th Anniversary Ale: 5.0 –We’ve actually had the 15th Anniversary (seriously though who celebrates 19 years though?). We found that lacking despite giving it a full-blown style review as a special beercation review. This has some better taste to it, but overall it’s high and low points are much the same.

Berkshire Brewing Company River Guide American Wheat Ale
River Guide American Wheat Ale: 6.5 – Once again Berkshire delivers a solidly good ale for a damn good price in big bottle. The nuttiness and the wheat here are great, and if I’m honest Berkshire is one of those companies that I want to just keep making more and more beers.

J&B Justerini & Brooks Rare Blended Scotch Whisky 750mL
There is a certain kind of irony of saying “rare” on your bottle, despite being one of the most well-known and prolifically sold whiskies in existence. It’s kind of the beanie baby situation, except it might be preferable to take a beanie babies innards and distill that into a spirit. If that’s not a large enough spoiler before the the fold – here goes.

Mahr’s Brau Bamberger Original ‘Mastodon’ Lager
Original ‘Mastodon’ Lager: 7.5 – That is simply a delicious lager. There’s complexity to it but its not an overpowering drink with flavors that make it too heavy, or difficult to drink. Quite honestly – you should try this.

Oxbow Town Line Porter
Oxbow Town Line Porter: 6.5 – that is a dark drink. While it certainly has gravitas and a bit if coffee to it this is a dark porter in terms of taste ans color. It’s like a coffee porter with a black ale. Sadly its not very drinkable like some black alea

Sangre de Vida Mezcal 750mL
Our first proper Mezcal review! Mezcal is something HBR has had occasionally usually at a restaurant or bar, but we’ve never actually gotten together and sat down to actually reviewing a bottle. Overall Mezcal is made the same way as tequila, and like champagne Tequila merely signifies a region in which it’s made. This region however is so prolific that it’s de-factor standard, and too a certain degree Mezcal’s are often looked down upon as an inferior product.

Jack’s Abby Kiwi Rising
Jack’s Abby Kiwi Rising: 5.0 – Damn a double IPL? I was foolish to think a Jacks Abby draft would suit me. That being said the hops are center stage and are too much. Thankfully the tropical and pepper flavor provides some complexity. I now want to try a tropical shandy with this. The problem with that though is a beer should be good on it’s own.
