We do want to assure people that next week’s review will actually – be something good, and while we do have 2 really bad ones in a row – that’s sort of what happens when you roll the dice on these things. If only there was a – wait no – too meta. Anyway, we get a vodka from Poland that says almost nothing, but what’s inside screams volumes.

Kern Triple Distilled Blended Irish Whiskey 750mL
We move this week from a scotch that is much better neat to an Irish whiskey that is much better neat, with the week prior to that being an American single malt better neat… (everything is the same kids). In all seriousness though, this is technically a fantastic whiskey.
Sir Robert Burnett’s London Dry Gin 750mL
Listen, sometimes it’s another week for reviews, you’ve not done a gin in a bit so let’s grab some of that and it’s a plastic bottle. Now we inherently don’t have much issue with the bottle being plastic other than environmental concerns because as we know all too well – you can put some shit into a glass just as easy. Here though we have a big, very big problem.
El Jimador 100% de Agave Reposado Tequila 750mL
We’ve previously had the silver version of this (uhh checks the math) 4 years ago. Yikes, this blog got long in the tooth. Anyway, we were not kind to the Silver Jimador, because it has a taste like some hospital floor cleaner, and make no mistake the aging has not fully removed that – but enough to make something drinkable at last.
Buchanan’s Deluxe 12 Yr. Blended Scotch Whisky 750mL
This does have one of the dreaded ‘kickstart’ pour spouts that have accumulated only ire on this fair website. We got around that with some clippers, but even the results are not terribly pretty. In all, fuck you. Now let’s get to the whiskey itself.
Blue Chair Bay Premium Blend Spiced Rum 750mL
After the abysmal failure that was Bumbu rum a few weeks past we were honestly a bit scared to try another rum so soon, and when the aroma was more on the sweeter side it sent our head spinning. Thankfully Blue Chair is not cut from the same cloth, but is also a bit of a weird breed given it’s via Kenny Chesney.
Sobieski 100% Pure Rye Vodka 750mL
We’ve previously had their ‘estate’ vodka, but how about the original? Well if their special version wasn’t a great showing it’d be odd if the original was better – thankfully that’s not the case really. This really only scores higher overall because it is (thank god) cheaper.
Sons of Liberty Battle Cry Single Malt Whiskey 750mL
Let’s just get this out of the way, the current interpretation of patriotism and nationalism is in a weird place in America right now, and given this it’s kind of hard to try and be objective about this in a meaningful way, but we’ve stated before that the reason we break down our scores is that we care more about what’s in the bottle than everything else so – eh? (It is actually pretty good)
Ixa Reposado Tequila 750mL
This week’s tequila has a donkey on it, but you’d really be an ass to discredit it. IXA in our minds would be a monstrous force unrivaled were it 10 dollars cheaper, but as is – makes waves being a higher tier tequila. (Organic nonsense aside)
Richard Mistral Gin 750mL
This gin reminded us (look-wise at least) of Gin Mare. That spirit, however, had some weird distilling methods leaving it ultimately like a cocktail in a bottle. Where that was expensive though and worked really only in a martini, we have at different beast here. This is a gin (and it’s been a while coming) that we can’t point to a major flaw.
