Our part 2 of New Hampshire scotch adventures, and of course some people just muttered/shouted that this is not in fact scotch. This is due to the fact that it actually comes from Japan despite its presence in the scotch aisle of every store. Japan has been making waves recently in the whiskey market, most notably with Sunatory buying many whiskey making companies, and with it’s own well-known/imported whiskies. Hibiki and this, Nikka.
Ayinger Weizenbock
Weizenbock: 4.0 – It’s certainly a tasteful beer, but overall the taste isn’t that overwhelming or desirable. I feel like you could find something to pair this with food-wise and the tastes would complement each other, but otherwise I’m not a fan.
Google Shop Average: Weizenbock $5

Von Trapp Helles Lager
Helles Lager: 5.0 – As far as hoppy lagers go, this is actually quite easy to drink, but is not overwhelming in taste that would make it terrible.
Google Shop Average: Helles Lager $18 for 24-pack

Port Charlotte Scottish Barley Heavily Peated Islay Single Malt 750mL
I will say that Bruichladdich’s marketing prowess of standing out among the scotch aisle has certainly worked by proof of me purchasing it despite many choices on a New Hampshire trip. I am a fan of the peat and the Islay, and this practically shouted at me that I could find it here. However while the peat is certainly a very loud aspect of the whisky it lacks any sort of rhythm or complexity in it’s noise.
Berkshire Busker Czech Style Pilsner
Busker: 7.25 – It’s really quite distinctive here, and is really tasty, the czech style adds a lot.
Google Shop Average: Busker $5
Von Trapp Pilsner Lager
Pilsner: 6.0 – Achieves a nice balance between being too hoppy that you would lose flavor and an overall pleasant Pils taste.
Google Shop Average: Pilsner $18 for 24-pack

El Jimador Silver Tequila 750mL
We are hitting the end of the summer, and thus the end of the Buffalo buying different tequilas to throw into random citrus or tropical mixes. (Recipes of which exist for all of the 3 seconds). The problem with reviewing spirits in this manner is you sort of just accept how standard it is mixed, and try to neglect that should you review it in a context where seven types of fruit juices are not involved it’s likely a bad tequila.
Berkshire Long Daze Hefeweizen Ale
Long Daze: 6.0 – Another solid beer from bbc, especially for their budget price.
Google Shop Average: Long Daze $5
Von Trapp Vienna Style Lager
Vienna Lager: 5.0 – Just another non-offensive, good but not great beer. Nothing truly distinctive, but still enjoyable.
Google Shop Average: Vienna Lager $18 for 24-pack

Don Q Gold Rum 750mL
Now here’s the part where I had intended to tie this to one of my goto rums (for silver/white) that would be a constant recommendation for readers of this site – which is Don Q. I would then say that despite this I am not a fan of the gold. However like trying to flip an omelet overhand I have quite the egg on my face, and I will make sure to review the clear spirit in the future.
