Who else but the Germans have a clue what they’re doing when it comes to beer? The Czech’s, because despite being Czech I refuse to spell it out fully. We all really liked this beer, and though the German was better in our minds this is a great beer to have.
Now let’s head to Vietnam. One of us (Huanlai) actually hails from this country which means he’s a communist immigrant. Who loves capitalism and has often said that America despite what people say is pretty sweet. That aside this Saigon Ale is about average in terms of taste, and its low score really reflects value and manliness. They don’t say anything, even the Vietnamese is just information on packaging.
Now we head south for a little bit into the wilderness known as Kenya, where there are Kenyans. It’s here we prove that while your beer can be manly that doesn’t make it the best. Which considering from our first review of Highland Park – A scotch made by an man named Magnus and made under a church makes a lot of sense. It was manly too, but it was still just mediocre.
Ahh, and so we head to the ice cold land of Russia. With a beer we feel exemplifies the beer of the working class Russian. This means of course to us snooty beer tasters in America that this beer doesn’t taste that great, because we’ve yet to have the privilege of working in a Russian factory. Regardless though it’s a fine beer, and it feels like they put vodka in it (the creamy aftertaste) and considering the higher proof – they just might have. Considering Russian workers don’t need to read this bottle has nothing to say.
Next we head the England, but it’s not really England. It’s actually New Hampshire – but the lager is made English style, so that’s close enough. I know – I asked William the IVth why when told to get beers for a review Around the World he choose a New Hampshire beer, but he responded basically that he does what he does, and then he does it. SO, anyway this tasted very much like it came from across the pond, and is actually quite good.

So we began with an initial set of reviewing beers around the world. These have been broken into smaller articles. Right now I find myself relaxed, happy, and with a taste in my mouth that is familiar and yet – rings truer to my taste buds than its triumphant popular cousin. This week there was a sale at the local liquor store and my heart skipped a beat as Gentleman Jack was on sale and was the same price as Jack Daniels Black Label.

Wait no, wrong intro. Unfortunately it’s not Ketel One again this week. Its Skyy Vodka…no, stop! Don’t go! Tonight on booze reviews: a bear brings by some vodka and mauls some mixed drinks! Not only that, a surprise ending, Skyy vodka is actually pretty good! Oh, whoops, looks like I gave away the whole review in the tag line. I’m going somewhere with this I swear…let’s start over.
When you hear Gordon’s you think of one name, James Bond, with the famous words “Shaken, not stirred.” What most people don’t get is that James Bond’s martini’s use vodka, and shaking gin for a martini is the worst thing you could do to it. Now we’re not here this week to judge James Bond’s iconic-ly known vodka (though it’s not that great). No we are here to review Gordon’s Gin, a gin that was my (The Buffalo’s) first foray into gin. Which ended with me almost nearly being turned off to gin forever.
