So given our restrictions in reviewing (we don’t know what they are tbh), we have this whiskey which is really more like a rum, simply because it’d been aged heavily by the process, and that matters. Teeling isn’t a typical whiskey, having been aged in rum casks, but we do have some thoughts on it.
Cigar City Brewing American Golden Ale
Cigar City Golden Ale: 6.5 – That is a very good combo of wheat/malt and bread like flavors. This is a very good spring time beer, being delicious and easy to drink, but not as light or pale as a true summer beer. There is a tiny bit of a ‘bite’ to this beer (it’s not the alcohol), that’s intriguing as well.
Price Average: $10 for 6-pack

Karlsson’s Gold Vodka 750mL
It’s tasks like these that put phrases into your mind you never thought would be there. Phrases like ‘virgin potatoes’. However, you should be less concerned that something is happening to your regular potatoes as this simply means before they have formed skin they are mashed and distilled into this. A fact which has some benefits, but maybe could have also benefited from being in the ground more.
Rhinegeist Science Fiction – Funky Blonde Ale
Science Fiction: 7.5 – That is most certainly a funky blonde. It’s got some wild yeast and some tart sour going on, but there’s other flavors as well. It starts off a bit like grapefruit but the aftertaste is almost wine like. It’s certainly got some style, and overall is quite nice.
Price Average: $12

Ommegang Game of Thrones – Hand of the Queen Barleywine Ale
Hand of the Queen: 4.0 – The last of the 4 pack of GoT beers because we already reviewed one. Man that episode was killer huh? #topical #nospoilers #peaksellout. It appears we finally found it folks – a GoT beer that takes a risk, and sadly doesn’t pay it off well despite the Lannister it’s namesake refers too. This barleywine style is just a bit too bold in flavor and almost even feels barrel aged. We wouldn’t say this is bad, but it does require a certain type of person who likes this style (as in unlike others in this box it’s not a beer for everyone)
Price Average: $25 for 4-pack with glass

Garnish Island Gin 750mL
Howard Hawks once said that a good movie was “three good scenes and no bad ones.”, and if we apply that philosophy to this gin, it can be said there are 3 good aspects. The design is killer, the sweet and spicy taste is great, and the aroma literally fills the room with gin. However to say there are no bad aspects would be a lie, and as such, this is certainly not a good gin.
Green Flash Brewing ‘GFB’ Blonde Ale
GFB: 4.5 – My god. That is such a ‘blonde ale’ it’s almost painful how average it is. It’s fine, I mean there’s little to complain about, but it is about as forgettable as – wait what were we talking about again? Honestly this is the worst kind of beer for us, not because it’s bad – but because it’s so boring and average.
Price Average: $9 for 6-pack

Bulleit 95 Straight American Rye Frontier Whiskey 750mL
It’s a lesson once again in well-known obscurity as we once again have something to review that we here know well enough about, something we’ve carried in our bar and ordered in others, and yet something that for some reason hasn’t made it to this damn website. So let’s hear it for Bulliet rye for being all the rye you ever truly need, but maybe not what you want.
