Back to ‘scotch’ instead of tequila we instead take a slight diversion to Japan. We’ve actually had some pretty good luck with Japanese whiskies in the past, and though this looked to be one of the cheaper entry-level products hopes were high it could compete with it’s brothers the Yamazaki and the Hakushu.
Avery Brewing: The Kaiser Imperial Oktoberfest Lager
The Kaiser: 6.0 – It is certainly a very heavy Oktoberfest. It has a high alcohol content combo’d with a gravity. I wish however it had a bit more spice to it as it comes off a bit bland in taste. There’s enough there with taste and drinkability though to enjoy.

White Birch Dubbel
White Birch Dubbel: 4.0 – The meatyness of the beer comes with a sweetness giving it an overall bbq vibe. If honest the main reason to purchase this again would be for cooking flavor or at least accompaniment. Because while it has that – as a beer it’s not the best tasting.

Sangre de Vida Reposado Tequila 750mL
Week 2 of the Sangre’s tequila set of reviews, this time with a fiery reposado. This is one is one of my favorites in terms of design with the flames and red. I also like that the heat you get on the backburner makes this one of the better mixers from the Sangre line.
Meantime Brewing Company Yakima Red
Yakima Red: 4.0 – its clearly a red ale but whipe you get those same characteristics you expect the taste has a flatness thats kind of sweet but not in a sugary way

2016 Hibernal Fluxus Belgian-Style Stout
2016 Hibernal Fluxus Rye: 6.0 – It’s not remotely like what you expect from Allagash’s fluxus, but that’s okay. It is a delicious stout, well balanced in terms of flavor, and is beyond easy to drink.

Glenglassaugh Revival Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 750mL
So this distiller was bought and left dormant for near 100 years. However once 2008 happened there was a turn, and now that it’s been a while enough time has passed to to make an actual scotch. This comes as a ‘revival’ of the distillery, but in short it can;t be ignored for being just another single malt scotch whisky.
