You would think having reviewed things with the word Presidente, that a mere mayor would know their place. However this tequila thinks it deserves your vote, but it will never get ours. Between the bullshit awards, the burn afterkick, and the fact we’d never buy this again – strap in folks.
We bought this because, like most reasons, it’s a fairly attractive and standout design, it wasn’t silly expensive, and because we can’t do whiskey normally so we’ve had to branch out more. However we have an Anejo that’s simply just average neat or rocks, and bad nearly every else.

A Handcrafted Legacy: For more than 125 years my family has distilled tequila – carefully handcrafting our legendary spirit from only the finest Blue Agave plants harvested from the high plains for Jalisco. I personally invite you to indulge in this ultra-premium tequila and experience the passion and pride that my father and grandfather brought to life more than a century ago. Enjoy!
Colour: Amber with a golden glow
Nose: Carmel aroma, with sweet fruit and light oak.
Mouth: Smooth entry leads to soft, medium-to-full bodied palate with caramel, grilled fruits and brown spices.
Finish: Medium body, ending with a light almond taste.
Then it describes the difference between Anejo/Reposado/Blanco”
Taste: 6.0 – There’s a bit of that warm taste, some agave, some spice and a bit of sweetness and is overall what you signed up for.
Aftertaste: 3.5 – You get more of the raw agave at the end and it lingers in a sort of unpleasant way long. You want a nice toasty mellow dram to lull you and instead, you get something off.
Burn/Smooth: 4.0 – It’s not like a punch in the face sort of burn, more like coat the inside of your throat and twinge. Between that and aftertaste it’s not the smoothest to drink neat.
Aroma: 7.0 – Well we have to give them this, that is the standard by which we wish all Anejo could achieve. It’s not stellar or outstanding, but it is a nice mellow agave and is exactly what you want.
Honesty: 2.5 – Listen. Your bottle design is cool. But that WANK on the text, the bullshit awards and description, and the usage of the word ‘brown spices’ – Fuck You. Just Fuck Off.
Mixability: 5.75
W/ Rocks: 6.0 – The problem here is that you get much of those nicer and softer aspects of the anejo, but you can sense how the water has changed it forcing it to lack any power at all, Certainly is the way to imbibe, but that’s not a great mark.
Margarita: 5.5 – As with others, not purpose-built for neat/rocks – let’s try the marg. Well, well – well. So okay it’s not typical, but the mellow tequila is actually nice here. Possibly with a bit of a certain flavouring element beyond standard, this could shine like a diamond.
Value: 5.0 – For an Anejo that’s not too crazy. However, the concern is whether it was actually worth the amount paid and your (dear reader’s) earth money. In that respect – not really so it evens out.

Final Thoughts: This tequila truly angers us, and it leads us to the mindset of never starting with an Anejo from a line because while you can have a bad blanco/reposado and thing maybe some ageing will help, with the burn here we can only expect worse.
