We don’t care much for important footnotes – so this is basically an upgraded Stoli. Now we have reviewed Stoli before and the results – well they weren’t good. This is – well it is better, but at what cost?

Winter Hill Brewing ‘Russian Ending’ Imperial Stout
Russian Ending: 4.5 – A bit too malty it tastes more flat carbonation wise but that malty flavor is as powerful as the roasted hops you want for a stout. It’s on the lower side for imperial, but it’s not noticeable either. Overall it’s not stellar drinking, but does disappate in flavor rather quickly.

Knob Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon Small-Batch 100 Proof Whiskey 750mL
Knob Creek has been a common sight in stores and bars, but it’s never graced our site – until now. The verdict? Well, it’s another whiskey suffering from the 100 proof count, and the sweet bourbon flavors does little to help. We do personally know the rye as an okay Old Fashioned, but we’re in bourbon county now.
Lagunitas Brewing Co. ‘Cherry Jane’ Turkish Delight Cherry Juice Sour
Cherry Jane: 7.5 – It’s quite clear why the words Turkish Delight are added here, because there’s more going on then cherries. It’s muted and lightly spiced or something akin to brown sugar. It’s more pie cherry than a typical fruity cherry. While it’s fine to like both this style is much more relaxing and enjoyable.

Palo Viejo Ron de Puerto Rico White Rum 750mL
It looks like this was bought by the company who makes DonQ, which given the price range certainly makes it a contender against the parent brand (even if it doesn’t mix as well.) Overall though it appears to be another simple (made to profit) cheap bargain rum.
Trillium Brewing – Fort Point Pale Ale
Fort Point Pale Ale: 6.0 – It’s a hoppy american pale, but thankfully the mango, peach and some sort of citrus don’t make it sugary but add a filling sort of flavor to the rest of beer. It’s enjoyable, and while there is certainly a decent amount going on it’s abrupt not lingering very long.

Allagash Avancé Bourbon Barrel Aged Sour Ale
Avancé: 8.0 – It’s a bit weird to go from a sour that’s aged as that certainly has an aspect here, giving this a sort of graham cracker like feeling, and of course that’s complemented by the heavy strawberry flavoring. The result is like almost cheesecake like but w/o the cream and also it’s a beer. One does wonder if they made it with lactaid if it could pull off such a feat, but as is it’s a decidedly delicious and unique beer nonetheless.

Luksusowa Triple Distilled Potato Vodka 750mL
Another day, another polish vodka where you have to stop from making the ‘more like shoe polish’ joke. Not because we malign Poland, but because their vodkas can be a real mixed bag. This at least is well on the cheaper scale, but as we’ve found probably the most in the case of vodka – something cheap can be good. This is not.
