Admiral Nelson Premium Spiced Rum 750mL

Well continuing where the Lady Bligh left off let’s move on to some more spiced rums. The good news here is that it doesn’t not have an awful aftertaste, by which I mean it just really has no taste. Unless vanilla is a taste, then it has a lot of that.

Not to sound like I’m harping on it (I will later in the metrics), but I honestly feel that if you were to have this mixed with vanilla pepsi or vanilla coke – you might actually die from how vanilla everything is. Now I’m white, I enjoy vanilla ice cream like any American, but I don’t think that’s the way I’d want to die. (It’s scotch, scotch is the way I want to live and die.)

This is something I feel if I was still a college kid would think is awesome because mixers, but honestly all I want is more Captain Morgan Private Stock – I should get some of that, it’s been a while and nothing has really come close.

What they Say: “Admiral Nelson’s Premium Spiced Rum – inspired by Horatio Nelson, admiral of the greatest armada even to sail the high seas! A gold rum with a smooth, bold taste carefully blended with savory spices. Admiral Nelson’s Premium Spiced Rum mixes perfectly in any rum cocktail or tropical drink. Bring out you adventurous spirit with Admiral Nelson’s Premium Spiced Rum”

Taste: 4.0 – Here too like the aroma it’s just kinda bland.

Aftertaste: 6.0 – Here though we get some taste which is mostly just a bunch of vanilla – which I mean I guess that’s not bad.

Burn/Smooth: 7.5 – To it’s credit it does go down very smoothly, there’s little burn, and the vanilla is soothing.

Aroma: 3.0 –It’s bland, there’s no real smell, not bad, but not delicious – which the point of spiced rum is to smell amazing despite not tasting as amazing.

Honesty: 4.0 – If they just had the italic text I’d give them so many points for an Admiral named Horatio – sadly though they say their name sounds like a freaken Pokemon, and bold taste – sorry but no.

Mixability: 5.5

W/ Rocks: 3.0 – I was hoping this would open up the flavors and give me something more complex. I got more vanilla instead.

Rum and Coke: 8.0 – If you want a slightly less carbonated vanilla coke that will get you drunk – I may have found your rum. Now that’s not entirely my bag, but I will not deduct points because of that.

Value: 5.5 – You get this for the aforementioned Rum and Coke, and not much else. Hey at least it doesn’t make you want to die!
