This as far as we can reasonably tell is the first spirit we have from the African continent. This excludes wine of course, and technically this is made in the UK, but at least it’s technically correct. The botanicals here really do produce a gin that is very unique.

Old St. Andrews Fireside 12 Yr. Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 700mL
We close out the Old St. Andrews line going from a whiskey as warm as a fire, to one named for the fireside. This is the older 12-year version, but the aftertaste might surprise you.
Editor’s Note: We apologize for the clickbait opening, the writer has been fired.
Old St. Andrews Club House Scotch Whisky 700mL
Continuing our coverage of Old St. Andrews (we promise there’s something in the works so we can keep reviewing as many whiskies as we do, while not supplanting everything else) we move from the 10 Year to the Clubhouse. Another blend, but without a year, meaning there are some young bucks in this one.
Old St. Andrews Twilight 10 Yr. Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 750mL
We’re kicking off a 3-week special with my name on it (technically). Yes, it’s a collection from Old St. Andrews, which came in this adorable package of mini casks (fake obviously). We start the 3 weeks off with the 10-year offering – codenamed Twilight. Which actually this would the 10th year anniversary of the film this November – not that we think the scots knew that.
Presidente Brandy 750mL
Delving back in Brandy we get an offering not from the normally assumed France with cognac, or the awful American creations owned by a Mr E&J, but instead something south of our border in Mexico. With this we get Presidente brandy which is almost really good.
The Arran Malt 10yr Single Malt Scotch Whisky 750mL
We often get asked prior to gatherings ‘what should we bring’ and the short answer is almost always ‘something new’. This becomes a problem (despite a website to check said things) so we’re often given a list, of which Arran was chosen this time. Arran is not bad as a whisky, but it’s not a great scotch, not great value, and it lies to you.
El Espolón Bourbon Barrel Anejo Tequila 750mL
Wow, time really does fly by. Three years ago we reviewed the Reposado of this and mused about trying the Anejo in bourbon barrels. While we didn’t build up any expectations, sadly we were still let down kind of. The main issue seems to be that by ageing it in bourbon it’s oddly picked up harshness and isn’t the smooth sipping tequila it should be.
Nautical American Gin 750mL
The idea of a Nautically themed spirit interested us (largely because our DnD group just took a pirate ship – yeah we’re a pack of nerds). Sadly this was received about as well as a splash of salt water. (And we don’t mean in a refreshing slap to the face kind of way.
Belvedere Vodka (Product RED Edition) 750mL
Time for a vodka review that you’d think we’d have already clearly done – but we haven’t. Yes up there among the Ciroc and the Grey Goose is a Polish vodka known for being skinny and having trees and a French sounding name.
Pyrat Rum XO Reserve 750mL
It’s a cold one up here in the Northeast US at the time of review. So cold even the rum is wearing a scarf. (It’s a dumb joke but we’ll die on this hill). Yes our whiskey bender is over and we’re onto rum. Pyrat rum to be exact which is pronounced exactly like you’d think because they couldn’t even be that original over at the ol’ Patron plant.
