If there’s one sad effect of running this site for years it’s the dispelling of the illusion of premium vodkas. Something that looks like this, with the name of some old dead guy, and the price tag to match – you’d think one day I’ll try that vodka and it’ll be amazing. We’re wiser though, and – not so much.
That’s not to say there’s no bright spots here. This has a nice creamy smell and taste, which leads into a good white Russian. At this point, we’re spoiled for choice on vodka’s that can do that, so that illusionary vision of this vodka is laid bare to show some over marketed mid-level crap.
What they Say: “Chopin Vodka is estate-distilled by the Dorda family in the village of Krzesk, Poland. Our farm-to-bottle vodkas are made from the freshest single ingredients harvested from the local fields. You can taste the difference in the character of our vodka, seasonally distilled in small batches using traditional methods unchanged since 1896.
All stages of the Chopin process from the harvest, fermentation, and distillation, to bottling, are primarily done by hand. The result is not just vodka, it’s the spirit of Chopin.”
Taste: 6.5 – You get that nice creamy and potato style vodka flavor, but it’s nice and subdued and enjoyable to drink
Aftertaste: 4.5 – It’s not part 1 of the aftertaste that kills you, it is part 2 though. Part 1 is nice and creamy, whereas part 2 is just bad.
Burn/Smooth: 4.0 – Again it may seem nice, but it then starts to burn, and it keeps burning long after, but with some warmness alongside it.
Aroma: 8.0 – It’s near odorless and what you get has a bit of cream. Despite some harshness when you really dig in – well done here.
Honesty: 4.0 – We don’t give 2 shits if you do most of the process by hand. We could care less how farm to bottle you claim to be when your shit is shipped overseas anyway. The look is okay, although frosted bottles are overdone. Add that to the composer and meh. They don’t win too many points and shoot themselves a bit.
Mixability: 6.0
Vodka Tonic: 5.0 – It’s an okay vodka tonic, not stellar.
White Russian: 7.0 – This is a pretty good Russian, which makes sense because the cream and sweetness would likely be incorporated with the harshness falling away to cream and Kahlua.
Value: 4.5 – That is – just a bit too much. It is not worth the quality to make it a budget premium vodka, and it’s too much to be a cheap vodka.

Final Thoughts: Once again we feel the need to stress – never name a spirit after someone unless they themselves okay it. Chopin’s legacy should be his music, not some creamy over priced vodka. We don’t know if that’s truly such a radical idea, but as of late it seems to keep happening.
It seems you’re hung up on name and price. I spend $16.99 for 750 ml. Smooth on the rocks and my least hang over. Best on the market
I think you are a bit nasty. This is the Best Vodka for pure drinks and definitely beats the crap out of that overpriced frog juice!
Oneof the best Vidkas on the market. You can easily get it for $25 and it tastes great and doesnt lead to big hangover next day. I tried many vodkas over the last 15 years and this one is the best. My rating. 1. Chopin 2. Grey Goose 3. Belvedere 4. Ketel One 5. . Stolnichay
