This scotch was actually a recommendation to me by a friend as his favorite budget single malt. My current has been Deanston, and in truth I can understand his reasoning. The problem is that in terms of scotch I’m a highland and Islay kind of man, and while a Speyside or Lowland is always welcome – it’s just not what gets my blood pumping.
Casamigos’ Reposado Tequila 750mL
Well they can’t all be winners. Darn once again in an effort to express honest opinions we’ve given the review away. Yes folks this is a tequila that I thankfully picked up a small bottle for while it was cheap in New Hampshire, because quite frankly if I paid a full price for this I would be nothing short of enraged.
Bonded Old Grand-Dad 100 Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 750mL
Here we have the more powerful version of a favorite in the lounge Old Grand-Dad. The OG Dad is our common pick for a house bourbon since sadly Ezra is rare to find around these parts. I hadn’t heard about this but bought it purely on it being bonded – didn’t even realize the difference comes from it being a 100 proof bourbon – which I typically am not huge on.
Finlandia Vodka 750mL
If this is what Finland has to offer, than I think they should stick to memes of being invulnerable to cold. While there might be other Finnish vodkas that are good, this is down right terrible in nearly every way. It may actually be in the bottom 3 of our scoring system.
Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 750mL
Time for some more higher shelf bourbon – this time one I’ve had a few times, but mostly in bars or tastings. Woodford Reserve has always been an iconic looking bottle in shops despite it’s simplicity, but alas while it wins well in some places – as often in our format it’s not a perfect whiskey by any means.
Weekly Wine: May 15th
So I’m back (but I had my luggage stolen, so if I drop a post or I’m a bit late on future stuff – I do apologize)
Rincon La Reina Lager
La Reina Lager: 4.0 – As a flagship beer it’s certainly okay, but you would hope for a microbrewery to have better offerings for it’s standard beers.
Google Shop Average: La Reina Lager $6 for Draft

Two Roads Via Cordis Abbey Blonde Ale
Via Cordis Abbey Blonde: 4.0 – It’s got a sweet hoppy flavor, but I really enjoy blondes where the flavor is forward instead of hidden behind some sweetness. (Bad joke: I also prefer the beer like that). It seems though that my new state of Mass is superior to CT, (who both lose to New Hampshire).
Google Shop Average: Via Cordis Abbey Blonde $5.50
