I have actually visited the Tower of London and seen the men wearing the outfit’s pictured on the bottle. I feel though that instead there should be a crow for how badly this tastes. Not to give it a bad rap, but this is normally what you serve in bars as the cheap gin for a good reason.
No Weekly Wine, How About Story Time?
So as previously mentioned I am not able to attend my beloved regularly scheduled tasting. I was linked to a story by one of my compatriots and I felt the need to share. It’s the story of a man trying to visit every bar in Worcester (my home town), and so far he’s already broken the 100+ mark.
Aside from applauding the local hero I share this because it resonates with what we do here at Honest Booze Reviews – namely that we constantly are trying new things, and we’re reporting back. It’s what sets this site aside from many review sites which are not as structured, award points like it’s their birthday, and are more interested in page views than honest reporting. (I’ve visited some of the bars on his tour and for the most part I agree or respect his views)
This though is the point – in that anyone who views this site should also continue to try new places. It’s easy to see people who fall into the same kind of spirit or beer or even bar, and because friends or family, or Yelp reviews they never leave that comfort zone. I’m not saying if you find a scotch you like you shouldn’t get it on occasion – but keep searching and you don’t know what you’ll find.
– Buffalo out.
Mystic Saison
Mystic Saison: 6.0 – Ahh unfiltered Saisons – the beer where you’re supposed to over pour because the head will be half that glass. However once the head fades after an eternity (or if you like me actually did put it in the sink just because you got impatient) It is actually a very tasty saison.
Google Shop Average: Mystic Saison $9
Victoria Lager
Victoria Lager: 4.5 – Even as a draft this beer just lacks any real impact.
Google Shop Average: Victoria Lager $8 for 6-Pack

Sauza Gold Tequila 750mL
Well it’s the just about the 5th of May and without actually trying we are actually reviewing a tequila on the fabled day. (We normally do an Irish Whiskey because we get the Irish and Mexicans confused) However though we aren’t doing some good tequila, instead it’s some fairly standard budget tequila (my budget was strapped for tequila with that Anejo)
Old Chub Scotch Ale
Old Chub Scotch Ale: 4.83 (4.5, 5.5, 4.5) – It’s an okay scotch ale, and likely the best scotch ale you can get from a can.
Google Shop Average: Old Chub Scotch Ale $12

Harpoon Braggot Rights Double IPA
Harpoon Braggot Rights: 6.33 (5.5, 7.5, 6) – A little too much on the backend for me. But as for all IPA’s this isn’t that bad.
Google Shop Average: Harpoon Braggot Rights $7

Boru Vodka 750mL
We recently had a vodka from Russia – but this time instead let’s choose one from a more unorthodox location. Ireland. Also this is distilled from grain for those wondering if this was a potato vodka (that’s bigotry). Anyway as you know we tend to mix up St Patrick’s Day and Cinco de Mayo – so hey close enough.
Weekly Wine: April 24th
I’m back for a week, but about to leave for another 3 weeks. One of those will be in South Cali though so here’s hoping there’s a wine bar that does flights.
Henniker Brewing Company – Company Quadruple 2015
Company Quadruple 2015: 5.0 – There is a lot of flavor here, but overall the beer is just not a beer I terribly enjoy, or a beer I would recommend.
Google Shop Average: Company Quadruple 2015 $10
