We do want to assure people that next week’s review will actually – be something good, and while we do have 2 really bad ones in a row – that’s sort of what happens when you roll the dice on these things. If only there was a – wait no – too meta. Anyway, we get a vodka from Poland that says almost nothing, but what’s inside screams volumes.
Newburgh English Brown Ale
Newburgh English Brown Ale : 6.5 – It’s a bit odd to think of what makes this a British/English style brown ale when it’s really not exactly like an ESB. However, this is by no means a brown ale akin to a typical American style or a nut style. Style aside it’s just plain great – fantastic beer. Considering the Cream Ale – might be worth looking more into Newburgh for us.

Kern Triple Distilled Blended Irish Whiskey 750mL
We move this week from a scotch that is much better neat to an Irish whiskey that is much better neat, with the week prior to that being an American single malt better neat… (everything is the same kids). In all seriousness though, this is technically a fantastic whiskey.
Vanished Valley Brewing Lost Town Stout
Lost Town Stout: 6.5 – It is a slightly odd stout. It has a sweet almost dark candy-like aspect to it. It’s not exactly like a bar of chocolate, and the lactose milk style is their sort of adding to the effect. The effect is profound and delicious though.
Price Average: $16 for 6-pack cans

Sir Robert Burnett’s London Dry Gin 750mL
Listen, sometimes it’s another week for reviews, you’ve not done a gin in a bit so let’s grab some of that and it’s a plastic bottle. Now we inherently don’t have much issue with the bottle being plastic other than environmental concerns because as we know all too well – you can put some shit into a glass just as easy. Here though we have a big, very big problem.
Queen City Brewery Hefe weizen
Hefe weizen: 5.5 – Surprisingly malty for a hefeweizen, but the wheat and hefe style are still prevalent. The aftertaste though has a bit of what feels like wet grass/wheat? that’s not great, but a fine effort overall.
Price Average: $12 for 6-pack

Hofbrauhaus Festbier
Hofbrauhaus Festbier: 7.0 – For a golden lager that it is pretty much dead on what you expect and want. It’s not too crazy, or perfectly executed, but it’s the standard you wish was standard.
Price Average: $10 for 6-pack

El Jimador 100% de Agave Reposado Tequila 750mL
We’ve previously had the silver version of this (uhh checks the math) 4 years ago. Yikes, this blog got long in the tooth. Anyway, we were not kind to the Silver Jimador, because it has a taste like some hospital floor cleaner, and make no mistake the aging has not fully removed that – but enough to make something drinkable at last.
