As a heads up November’s reviews will be delayed due to some much needed holiday time, and a push to get an updated statistics in prep for our soon to be annual year-end review and our awards.
There will be an influx of content on Dec 23rd.
We’re really looking forward to getting everyone a trio of awards for both Beer, Wine, and Spirits as well as reviving an old segment of building the best bar possible for just $100.

Paulaner Octoberfest: 3.0 – An otherwise nearly tasteless unremarkable Octoberfest

Jack’s Abby Blood Orange Wheat Lager
Blood Orange Wheat Lager: 5.5 – It’s a solid wheat lager. But the blood orange is only just there. It’s nice though and goes down easy and the bit of uncommon citrus is fine.

Sobieski Estate Vodka Single Rye 750mL
If we’ve ever laid anything of simmering anger at the door of Belvedere it’s that some people associate it and their frosted bottle with higher tier vodka (it’s not). So strap in folks because this will not be a kind review to Sobieski which would be better served clearing snow off of your skiing boots than sipped back at the lodge.
(Disclaimer we have no idea how skiing works, and if that’s a thing you do)
Norway Brewing Co. Mr. Grumpy Pants Oatmeal Coffee Stout
Mr. Grumpy Pants: 8.25 – The combination here of the oatmeal to coffee is harmonious and this is a delicious stout.

Glenfiddich 18 Yr. Small Batch Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky 750mL
So we’ve always been a bit apprehensive of the Fiddich, namely because while they deserve the store presence they often get and are by no measure have made a bad whiskey, they’ve always been – just slightly above average. It seems though just a few extra years of aging allows it to set itself apart though.
Ommegang Brewery Abbey Dubbel Ale
Abbey Dubbel Ale: 6.0 – It’s a nice & meaty dubbel and being the first beer made from Ommegang it’s no surprise how they’re style has been there all along, and only gotten better with every new brew.

Kirk and Sweeney 12 Year Rum 750mL
We had a thought looking at the tag of this rum, and it was – oh like an evidence tag used to identify the poison that killed the Mr. Cottonsword. How prophetic we were. We always strive to find the diamond in the rough, but because such a thing is possible there’s always the wasp in the beehive. Hold on not sure if this metaphor is working.
