Not to be confused with the much rarer and much more expensive Mackinley’s special breed we have another contender in the whiskey space to the Shackleton name. This is sort of ‘inspired’ or in other words – stolen to sell. The look though is solid even if the product isn’t as solid.
Southern Tier ‘8 Days a Week’ Blonde Ale
8 Days a Week: 3.0 – It’s light, but it’s not a good beer so the infinitly drinkable tagline falls flat. Overall as a blonde ale this is just weak, has nothing that stands out, and lacks flavor.
Price Average: $10 for 8-pack

Don Q 151 Proof Rum 750mL
We’re big fans of the Don Q (we appreciate those who attack windmills, and make cheap but not shit spirits). It’s actually our main white rum decanter filler. This, however, will go down as a beguiled and loathed rum because much like the Bacardi ilk – this is awful, and nothing compared to the Gosling saviour.
Guest Spot on Whiskeypedia: A Podcast about Whiskey & Wikipedia
Some friends of ours recently started a podcast, and our own Editor-In-Chief did a guest spot on their fourth episode. Whiskeypedia is a podcast about drinking and enjoying whiskey while clicking a random article on Wikipedia and using only links see how far you can go before the whiskey kicks in. We started our episode with an actual mutiny in Space! only to end with my new favorite Twitter account, a South African cannon that always fires at noon.

Wormtown Madeira Quadruple Ale
Madeira: 4.0 – Ho boy is that a hell of a quad. There is honestly too much going on there and you practically have to chew the beer. The banana, the wheat, and the meat just come at you in waves and no part of this is easy to drink or taste.
Price Average: $11 Growler

Allagash/Oxbow Wild Rivulet
Wild Rivulet: 9.0 – Once again there’s proof that a combo of Oxbow and Allagash can not do you wrong, but this even then is special. It’s akin to drinking a magic potion with it’s crazy fruit and tartness that gives way to nice smoothness. It’s a fucken fantastic wild ale.
Price Average: $13

Don Q Cristal Rum 750mL
Well this has been sort of a long time coming. We’ve previously mentioned with the gold that this is our silver go-to filler and is a mainstay of the lounge. This is mostly due to the pricing, but there’s some good aspects. It’s cheap, and it mixes well. Now that may seem like a slight against it, but loyal readers will know that’s pretty much all we want.
River Styx Proteus V Farmhouse Ale
Proteus V: 6.0 – The tangerine isn’t fully working here, but like the others from Styx they know how to make a good farmhouse ale.
Price Average: $7 Draft
