Brasserie Dieu du Ciel Peche Mortel Imperial Coffee Stout
Peche Mortel: 6.0 – It’s not a super coffee or super heavy stout despite the modifiers. It feels like they added a bit of heat via a chili, but overall a standard stout that’s easy to drink.

Le Trou du Diable Dulcis Succubus Ale
Succubus Ale: 7.0 – If you are asking did we choose this beer because of the scary pretty lady from an MtG card – the answer is half yes, the other being the wine barrel aging. The wine aging adds that tartness you want from a wild-yeast brett style ale without some of the aspects those often bring. You do wish it was a little bit sweeter like Allagash’s Interlude, but nonetheless a good beer.

Temporary New Look
So in prep for the new sister site PopTopMakerShop.com there were some upgrades which borked the theme. We’re on a default for now, but as this was meant to be changed next month (a detailed post was coming) rather than trying to fight it we’ll just have it as this for a short while.
Zubrowka ZU Bison Grass Vodka 500mL
It has been a lot longer than we thought since we reviewed a Bison Grass vodka. Bak’s was way so long ago back in 2011, a time before so many things went wrong. While that was creamy and mixed rather well, here we get less bison grass, and more – grass? Okay it’s not a perfect metaphor, but in short this has some earthy ‘ness’ to it, but that’s not really a good thing.
Brasserie Dieu du Ciel Derniere Volonte Abbey-Style Blonde Ale
Derniere Volonte: 7.0 – That smells very interesting, and the taste matches. Its sort of banana but a more cocoa like. You can claim the abbey style is doing this to what should be a blonde, but this is unlike a typical blonde.. it’s closer to a quad in some respects but not fully. Tastes nice though.

Laughing Dog Brewing CSB Extra Special Bitter Ale
CSB Extra Special Bitter Ale: 2.0 – Because we are a factual site, we must inform you that CSB is not a beer term, but in fact stands for “Crotch Sniffing Bastard” a reference to a dog named Ben. Also because we are a factual site we have to state that this beer is shite. You could say the ESB style is there, and the malty-ness is as well, but no. This beer tastes awful, is not easy to drink – and those are the facts.

Diplomatico Botucal ‘Mantuano’ Extra Viejo Rum 750mL
Here at the Lounge we always have a certain kind of sadness when we decide to buy something that’s a little more ‘top-shelf-y’ than our usual quest to find those spirits great for value. We know spending $50 or so might work out one way, but even then – at what cost. This is what makes seeing spirits like the below for under $30 seem so intriguing, and while overall it falters – there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
