Bourge Noble Vodka 750mL

We now come to a vodka that tries so hard to seem fancy and yet is a fucken nightmare. This reeks of something made by the French, meant to seem like it’s location and pedigree make it worth so much more, and yet absolutely not. Let us be the first to lay it out plain, this is a sort of shit vodka, at a not good price, that is ultimately skippable.

This is quite honestly the worst kind of vodka that exists, the kind that makes it seem like it’s worth more than it is. The kinda that pretends to be top shelf, but is truly awful. The more we think about it, the angrier we get with how shit this is.

What they Say: “Bottle: A special distilled blend of French wheat and grape spirits

Box: The origins of the ‘Bourge’ vodka and cognac dates back to 1789 and have deep historical ties to Paris, the city of lights. French and Russian nobles intermarried, and thousands of Russian moved to the city of Paris in 1814 bringing with them a vast supply of vodka. ‘Bourge’ Ultra-Premium vodka reflects a tradition of unique coupage of French soft winter wheat ‘Ble’ Panifiable Superieur’ grape spirits and water sourced from ‘Gensac-la-Pallue’ in the Cognac arrondissement (region), where the water is naturally filtered through limestone.

For the production of ‘Bourge’ Cognac, our Maitre de Chai uses grapes exclusively from the most sought after growth areas in the heart of the Cognac region in France. Cognac region is officially distinguished for its unique terroir and chalk-flecked soil that not only absorbs and holds water, but also reflects light and ripens the graps to perfection. From these grapes come ‘Eaux-de-Vie’ with a palatte of unique fragrances and flavors, followed by a long-lasting finish revealing the natural balance of the blend = testament to superior ‘Bourge’ Cognac. Enjoy our ‘Bourge’ spirits ‘a la Ruse’ style – in a ‘shot’ glass and bottoms up!”

Taste: 6.5 – Here it’s mostly clean with a backing of wheat. It’s actually quite nice.

Aftertaste: 6.5 – That mostly carries on from the taste, and gain is actually good, however it’s marred a bit by the burn.

Burn/Smooth: 3.0 – Hey what the fuck. You spend so much on the look and yet nothing on a proper filter or distillation column. Sorry but why the fuck does this burn as much as it does.

Aroma: 6.0 – You can certainly smell the wheat vodka base. There is only but a hint of awfulness there lurking just at the edge of your peripheral. It’s fine overall.

Honesty: 2.0 – Bit dicey to have the box work for both a cognac and vodka if we’re honest. Add that to all the look, all the pomp – only to have it burn like a 10 dollar vodka to us is really the biggest lie. You’d buy this thinking it was some quality shit, when it’s simply shit.

Mixability: 4.0

Vodka Tonic: 4.5 – Eh. It’s alright. Have had much worse vodka tonics, this one suffers from disappearing entirely, when you’d at least want some of that wheat flavor that you know is there to peek through. (If this vodka was clean and disappeared that’d be fine)

White Russian: 3.5 – It sucks. Okay well it doesn’t horribly suck, but you can still get the burn here, and that’s nice cool.

Value: 3.0 – No. Just no. Sorry if you see something as ‘fancy’ looking as this, and then be like – well it’s only twenty bucks that’s not bad should be a major red flag. This is not worth that price, and not worth your time.

Final Thoughts: No regrets on such a low score. We talked already about the lies, but let us put into simple turns. This costs twenty bucks and in no way should you spend your twenty bucks on this. Spend it most any other way and you’d be better off.
