Milagro Reposado Tequila 750mL

Milagro has long been a darling of the lounge as something never bought for the lounge. (We fill our decanter’s with 1800). However when that summer party happens, we get a bottle of Milagro because we want something better, and unlike many folks we know the truth regarding Patron. That being said we’ve still never formally reviewed the Reposado, so here we are many years later – finally rectifying that situation.

While the silver versions of these two gives the winner to Milagro, the reposado almost safely goes to 1800 in nearly every category. (Aside from a Tequila Sunrise which is excellent here.) That being said we think you know what must happen next, which is an Agave showdown.

What they Say: “” (Nothing on the bottle aside from Government warning and production details)

Taste: 7.5 – We described the silver as muted, well here the volume is on full blast. It hits you with the notion of tequila real quick.

Aftertaste: 6.0 – This gets a bit more ‘alcohol’ flavored as it goes on. But the agave ends rather quickly into the taste. The aftertaste leaves much to be desired.

Burn/Smooth: 8.0 – Again while this isn’t great, it’s still as smooth as butter.

Aroma: 6.0 – The easiest way to describe this is via song: https://youtu.be/EdMTl9zHQ9Y?t=52

Honesty: 5.0 – It has the same Euro-trash trapping it’s Silver brother has. Being orange though it side-steps a bit of that, and being reposado it gains a small amount of points.

Mixability: 6.75

Tequila Sunrise: 8.0 – That is a damn good Tequila Sunrise. The near perfect amount of tequila and the kind of standard you wish you’d get at your local Chili’s

Margarita: 5.5 – (Using Margarita Mix) – We have another tequila in-house to compare (1800), and to be honest this while okay is just not stellar.

Value: 6.0 – So either the price overall has gone down (it has, what was once 30 is now $23) but at $27 dollars this is good tequila, but not the best you could get for value.

Google Shop Average: $27

Final Thoughts: Stay tuned for our Agave showdown, but at the end of the day – here’s our real advice. If you are buying silver – go Milagro, if gold – go 1800. There might be other tequila’s out there in this range of price, but for availability and bang-for-buck this is good. Screw Cuervo. (We tried to work that into the sentence, but it stands better on it’s own)

  1. I don’t get why you would use Margarita mix on anything better than Cuervo! You spend $27 on a bottle and then you might as well piss in it.
