Das Schwarze Schwarzbier: 5.0 – It’s an okay schwarzbier, but the taste leaves much more to be desired.

Dos Equis Amber: 5.5 – So I’m not a terribly huge fan of the Dos Equis (which that even had a on-draft boost). While I don’t care for the lager, the amber has enough taste and easy drink-ability to earn itself a solid score, and be the first to break 5.0 in the challenge.

I was sort of chided for doing too many scotches over the holidays (they were gifts, and yes some were from me to me), so with St Patrick’s Day having passed it was time for some tequila reviews. The last Anejo we’ve had on this site was from Riazul, although technically we had an Anejo rum since then (which is weird)
Whoopie Pie Stout: 2.5 – This caused a triple take, and sadly for all the wrong reasons. This is very easy to drink mostly because while it gives you a hint of beer, it tastes more like nothing at all. There might be a market for some out there who want a whiff of a stout, but that’s abnormal and should be judged as such.

Red Stripe Jamaican Style Lager: 4.0 – While this very clearly (by name and a lawsuit) is not a Jamaican lager – what they’ve done to try and convince you it is has at least resulted in a subpar but not awful taste.

Turns out this is actually a single barrel version chosen for a local shop, but we got it for the upcoming St Patrick’s Day (in true Honest Booze Reviews tradition). It’s actually not a bad reposado overall, but for the typical mixers we have it doesn’t do very well here, which is sad for us.
Sam Adams Scotch Ale: 6.0 – Compared to some other big scotch ales, this cannot fully compete. However compared to other Sam’s this is a delight. As such it should and does earn a good score, but more as a gateway drug into other scotch ales.

Budweiser Lager: 3.0 – Bit of confession I have actually never had normal Bud before because of having to once drink Bud light, and some bar back horror stories. However it isn’t downright terrible, but it’s still subpar.
