You would think having reviewed things with the word Presidente, that a mere mayor would know their place. However this tequila thinks it deserves your vote, but it will never get ours. Between the bullshit awards, the burn afterkick, and the fact we’d never buy this again – strap in folks.
This is a pretty mellow looking reposado, but despite the sweetness or the rabbit on the cover, this is not a mellow and soft tequila. That being said the main issue here is that because it’s just overall an average tequila at a much much too high cost – it becomes bad.
It’s a bit annoying to see something be so deliberately hipster in its attempts to brand and be sought after. Everything here from the bottle type, the text, the labelling is just screaming – don’t get your shitty Cuervo go for me. Not to say you can’t get away with doing that you just have to actually be a better option. Which this is not.

Normally this is the bit where we change from something nice into why this sucks – but not this time. That’s because of this publish date this is the best-rated tequila overall on this site.
Wow, time really does fly by. Three years ago we reviewed the Reposado of this and mused about trying the Anejo in bourbon barrels. While we didn’t build up any expectations, sadly we were still let down kind of. The main issue seems to be that by ageing it in bourbon it’s oddly picked up harshness and isn’t the smooth sipping tequila it should be.
Milagro has long been a darling of the lounge as something never bought for the lounge. (We fill our decanter’s with 1800). However when that summer party happens, we get a bottle of Milagro because we want something better, and unlike many folks we know the truth regarding Patron. That being said we’ve still never formally reviewed the Reposado, so here we are many years later – finally rectifying that situation.
Moving on from the uptick of the caliente reposado we head back downhill with an anejo that is really a subpar tequila, but as an anejo is kind of worse? This lacks that critical element of the passion of tequila mellowed through age to become something woody, filled with spice, and smooth as hell.
Week 2 of the Sangre’s tequila set of reviews, this time with a fiery reposado. This is one is one of my favorites in terms of design with the flames and red. I also like that the heat you get on the backburner makes this one of the better mixers from the Sangre line.
Alright and so begins the month of tequila reviews from the company of Sangre de Vida. The lounge received a review sampler set among it’s scotch so we’ll be intersplicing it with that before we move onto the United Kingdom content next month. So those familiar with this ‘shape’ will recall our review of Kah Reposado, and it seems there’s a looming underbelly of hatred and lawsuits between the two companies over the fact that a normal person isn’t likely to notice a difference. The problem there being that to a certain degree Kah is much better (oh no, we spoiled a whole month this time)
Alright in our final ‘we did too much whiskey let’s do all but whiskey’ set of reviews we have something that’s been an old favorite of the site that we’ve finally gotten around to reviewing. 1800 is the lounges current choice of tequila if you are looking for something cheaper, good quality, and also that you can find easily while not looking like Eurotrash in your bar.
