Looking back at the Silver version of this, and it seems this Tequila is just unable to provide anything in the way of impact. Tequila should be bold flavored or at least complex. Tequila like this is the worst kind of tequila because even the gutter trash shit that burns both ways is at least good for a story. This is good for white trash people who want to have lemonade but call a margarita and check out of parties early to go to bed.
It says double distilled (not that this does anything as evidence by the Smirnoff triple distilled label), but maybe they should have done it only once. I would prefer regretting what I did while drinking Tequila then regretting Tequila.
What they Say: “Agavales Gold tequila is 100% Blue Agave product blended down to the traditional 80 proof versus their blanco product which comes in at 110 proof. Like all Agavales tequilas, the agave is cooked in a traditional brick oven and then distilled in traditional copper pot stills.”
Taste: 4.0 – It lacks impact here as well, and I would hope for a nice gold to have a much more powerful or at least distinct taste.
Aftertaste: 3.0 – Here it continues to be lackluster, in fact it get worse.
Burn/Smooth: 4.0 – It goes down smooth, but only because it’s a bit slimy.
Aroma: 4.0 – It has hints of a great smell, but it lacks any sort of impact of complexity. It lacks a fulfilling quality.
Honesty: 3.5 – Why this was cooked in a brick oven has no bearing in my mind for quality. The bottle as well manages to look like it’s trying but still fails to not be cheap.
Mixability: 5.5
Tequila Sunrise: 6.0 – That’s actually a good sunrise.
w/ Lime: 5.0 – It’s okay
Value: 3.5 – It’s simply not worth the price despite it being a rather cheap bottle.

Final Thoughts: I don’t think there are proper Resposado/Anejo’s for this brand (I mean it is bottom shelf, and doesn’t seem to be a branded product beyond here), but I would not buy anything beyond this because if you want bland-white people tequila, you can leave.
