Christmas time has come and gone once again, and once again a scotch has been gifted to the lounge. Sadly however it’s not a scotch as it’s been tainted by the wicked evil magic that is sherry. We’ve long been opponents of sherry aged scotches, but the recent trend of finishing in sherry has revived our hopes and can often be enjoyable. That is not the case here.

Grand Macnish 15 Yr Sherry Cask Blended Scotch Whisky 750mL
Grand Macnish has still been one of the favourites of the Buffalo Lounge, the reason being like all of our well spirits – it’s cheap, but not shite. We’ve formally reviewed the 12 year and informally have had the 150-anniversary version, and suffice to say – this is the worst of the lot.
Laphroaig 15 Year Single Malt Scotch Whisky 750mL
I guess this is now a more Laphroaig return (we had like 7 scotches mostly in a row) starting with Laphroaig recently. This is another gift to the lounge in the form of a 15 year old whisky. While the lounge accepts all gifts, we accept those older than our nieces and nephews happily.
Glenlivet 15 Year Single Malt Scotch Whisky 750mL
We’ve never actually reviewed Glenlivet, so apologies on starting with the 15 year. Personally while I find the 15 much better than the 12 – it’s the 16 Year Nadurra is my favorite (the later years are okay, but are a bit too overpriced.) Overall though Glenlivet is likely one of my favorite scotches that you can find almost everywhere.
Glenfiddich 15 Year Solera Vat Single Malt Whisky 750mL
Ahh to be back to reviewing scotch again. This was a gift to the lounge, and was well received. However we’ve always sort of preferred the Levit over Fiddich as they are comparable in both price, name-recognition, and availability.
