Alright campers, time to end our Summer Vacation beer specials with a trip to beer camp. In previous years Beer Camp was an interesting idea where a bunch of breweries collaborated to make a 12 pack of unique beers. This time the field has expanded to include 30+ breweries but for only 6 beers! A fact that may actually come back to haunt this sampler like the ghost stories of our youth.

Summer Vacation: Grainstore Brewery: Rutland Beast Stout
Grainstore Rutland Beast: 6.5 – it has a sweet chocolate but more like truffle taste? I guess. That sweetness though almost takes the wind out of the beer sails power-wise which is what I wanted from the name/look of the beer. (Also fairly certain this is tap-only)
Price Average: Name $8

Summer Vacation: Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier Wheat Bier
Franziskaner: 5.5 – It’s an average weissbier. I think it might be hard to find in the states, but overall while I like the beer – you are getting what you pay for price wise. It’s a nice balance of nut and banana with malt flavoring though.
Price Average: Franziskaner $3

Summer Vacation: Brewdog Dead Pony Club Session Pale Ale
Brewdog Dead Pony Club: 6.5 – I got this in one of the most hipster places in London I could find, and it shows. However while this pale is more like.an IPA it doesn’t go too far as some ‘Pales’ tend to do when amongst the hipster crowd. This does not, and is therefore actually quite good.
Price Average: Brewdog Dead Pony Club $5

Summer Vacation: Maisel’s Weisse Original Bier
Maisel’s Weisse: 5.5 – it’s an okay bier but its almost whisper of flavor paired with a bit too much lightness makes it easy to drink. The downside there is that it stops it from being a great beer.
Price Average: Maisel’s Weisse $4

Summer Vacation: Meantime London Lager
Hey folks – so since it’s the summer – one would expect we’d take some time off, and maybe have a few less posts. Nope. Instead every Sunday we’ll have some destination beers (from what’s left of the UK at this point), and finally we’ll have a Beer Camp special. Happy Summer folks, have a beer.
Meantime London Lager: 3.0 – This is just a no good beer. It taste just reminds me of beers from our Poster Challenge. (I know kind of a downer to start with, but hey if the beer is no good – it’s no good)
Price Average: Name $4
