Element Brewing Extra Special Oak

Extra Special Oak: 4.0 – This overall tastes pretty good, and that oak-y/earth-y flavor is quite nice. However despite a sealed cork cap it’s very likely this went flat as it had very little carbonation and felt more syrup-like. In the future if we can try this again, or find a draft we will issue a correction, but at this time it’s possible this rating is accurate.

Price Average: Extra Special Oak $13

Stone Xocoveza Winter Spiced Mocha Stout

Stone Xocoveza: 3.5 – Oh god the amount of coffee and mocha there is obnoxious. A coffee flavored beverage can often be okay, but this bitter and dark-chocolate, and spiced monstrosity is for people who want to appear to drink beer. The problem being those people hate beer, and now we’re catering to them. The small number of points here is purely for a serious coffee lover would enjoy this enough to balance the score a little.

Price Average: Stone Xocoveza $16 for 6-pack

Time to solve that. Laphroaig’s 10 year is most notably for being a constant companion in the Buffalo Lounge, not a year goes by without it gracing the shelves for a few short months, and that alone is a true marker of quality more than the other transient spirits in the lounge.
