Club Caribe Silver Rum 750mL

Well that’s enough whiskies for a while so let’s jump into a massive headache. The entire raison d’etre of this site is to be comprehensive and truthful, but there are downsides. For every diamond in the rough we can often find going across the various shelves and tiers there is often still ‘the rough’. Club Caribe is however so far in the rough an ogre just asked us to get out his swamp. #golfjokes #shrekislife

Thankfully we all know now that if your bartender reaches for a bottle that looks even vaguely like this, telling them to stop and choose literally any other rum is likely a better option. The highest praise for this is it makes a totally average rum and coke, and is on the cheap side. That being said this will smell awful from the moment you crack the bottle open until the hangover vomiting the next day.

What they Say: “Silver Premium Puerto Rican Rum Aged One Year”

Taste: 2.5 – At first it’s not terrible bad, but it’s not good, and is very short. This shortness of taste becomes a problem considering the aftertaste.

Aftertaste: 0.5 – Imagine a twinge of vanilla coupled with one of the worst things you’ve ever had.

Burn/Smooth: 1.0 – That burns, is not smooth, and is overall one of the worst things I’ve had.

Aroma: 0.5 – I know that smell. It’s a smell I’ve not smelled since childhood. What could it be? Oh right it’s nail polish remover. Like there’s nothing else different, it’s purely just nail polish remover.

Honesty: 3.5 – They don’t make no lies, but with a name like Club Caribe I simply can’t give this a decent score. I wish it was called something like Ted’s Bootlickin Rum because then it would be accurate at least.

Mixability: 4.25

W/ Rocks: 3.5 – I did this for consistency in reviews, but I am not hopeful. Oddly though while this is not great by any stretch of the word. It is certainly better.

Rum and Coke: 5.0 – That is a perfectly average rum and coke.

Value: 2.0 – This could be something that gives me money, and I’m still not sure I would call it good value.

Google Shop Average: $11

Final Thoughts: We are a humble spirit, wine, and beer review site, but if there’s any good that happens here – it’s that we’ve warned you to run as far away as you can from this. It is likely in the top 3 for the worst things reviewed by this site, and for good reason.
