Long, long ago there was a website similar to HBR, with a similar goal to try the worst of the worst to the best of the best, but with no preference between. They once wrote of a review of this tequila comparing its perfection to Keira Knightley in that there’s no single aspect that makes it perfect, but the entire thing – oh yes. While we may be harsher critics than they, it’s hard to deny they were on to something.
In short, there’s only a single reason this isn’t perfect overall, and it’s the odd minty flavor, and not being half the price. As far as critiques go there’s not much else you can ask for as red marks in your ledger. If anything this merely solidifies that our casual looking for this spirit will turn into an all-out search for the silver and anejo.
What they Say: “” (They say nothing)
Taste: 7.0 – You get a decent amount of agave and some fruit, but overall it’s very tasty.
Aftertaste: 7.0 – It ends with the agave going almost minty fresh in your nose. It’s odd, but oddly intoxicating like a Mexican mouthwash you can drink.
Burn/Smooth: 9.5 – It might actually be illegal how smooth that is. That goes down like candy and gives you a nice warm feeling.
Aroma: 7.5 – Pervasive, but not offensive. The agave hits a very nice balance and sweet spots and really makes you want to have some.
Honesty: 8.5 – No wanky text, a design that looks like that, and a product that delivers? Count us in.
Mixability: 7.5
W/ Rocks: 7.5 – The little bit of chill and blending of taste and aftertaste make this all the more sippable.
Tequila Sunrise: 7.0 – It’s a pretty damn good sunrise.
Margarita: 8.0 – That is fan-fucking-tastic. It’s a standard Margarita mix, but you put this is in a fresh one at a high-end bar and it’s worth the $30 you’d spend on it.
Value: 5.0 – We ended up paying a bit more than that average, but trust us it pays no mind. The freshness and the cleanliness of this tequila make us want to drink it all the time, and that’s worth every penny. (but a bargain it is not)

Final Thoughts: There’s no other way to say this. As of now, this is the best tequila overall on this site. 1800 is not too far behind, but what that makes up for in value can’t compete with the smoothness of this spirit. We said it above but look forward to more Trago here soon.
