Jameson Irish Whiskey 750mL

So we’ll be going over the reviews from the Live @ Nauticon event in the following month, but to give us some time to heal and sit down to actually write everything up we’ve decided to include a review into our repertoire that honestly we should have already done a year and a half ago.

Some may remember a few months ago we set out to actually review Jameson on St. Patricks’ Day. The results were needless to say ‘unfruitful’ In the chaos we’d forgotten almost that we even needed to review Jameson – some of us had though we’d already done it last year. Sadly our Irish Whiskies extend only the Bushmills Black, and the awful awful Kellan.

It’s also interesting to note because Jameson has often been described as a staple drink for us. Make no mistake Jameson has always had a home in our bars, and in our hearts. If we had an Irish Whiskey, it was either something be reviewed or Jameson, Yet we’ve never reviewed it – until now.

Getting into the finer details and scoring Jameson did essentially about as well as we expected. It’s fairly priced, and certainly above average, not a killer whiskey worthy of song and praise, but a slight nod of enjoyment when someone asks if you’d like a glass.

What they say: “It all started back in 1780 when John Jameson created his triple distilled, smooth Irish whiskey and John knew a thing or three about making great tasting whiskey. That’s why, today, we continue his tradition and make sure that Jameson Irish Whiskey is always as perfect as the day John Jameson released his first cask from his Single Distillery – triple distilled, twice as smooth and perfectly balanced.”

Taste: 6.33 – We like the taste quite a lot, it’s what we want for an Irish whiskey, but it’s not special.

Aftertaste: 4.83 – It’s a little worse but mediocre.

Burn/Smooth: 6 – Has the burn, but it gets nice. It’s okay for the burn. Has a real nice long warmness.

Aroma: 5.83 – This does smell pretty good, nice appeal for an Irish whiskey

Honesty: 7.5  – Not too much into the wank, it is a very good whiskey and the look is really good, and the commercial and branding it brings.

Mixability: 6.58

w/ Rocks: 6.167 – It reminds me of rainy days and keeping warm in a pub. It really opens up the taste and become more enjoyable on the rocks.

Jameson and Ginger Ale: 7 – This is classic, Irish Whiskey and Ginger Ale are a classic combo and Jameson is apart of this reason.

Value: 5.5 – I’d get this again, and this has gone on sale often enough. It can be a good deal

Google Shop Average: $24
