Kennedy’s Canadian Whiskey 1.5L

Sigh. Sorry to bum everyone out, but I am just waiting to try a Canadian whiskey that is actually something great. Something that is more than just a single note of Rye, or a subpar taste. However again I seem to be stuck into reviewing a whiskey that is for lack of better or more eloquent words bad.

Also and I’m not sure if this because I didn’t see it at the store, on their ‘site’ or even finding a proper image, but I don’t think they actually see a 750mL of this. (It’s why it’s absent from the title) Which in fairness makes a lot of sense when you think of how terrible this whiskey is.

What they Say: “Skillfully blended Whiskies to insure a distinctive quality flavor trusted for generations”

Taste: 3.0 – Almost a non-existent taste at first, which isn’t exactly what I want from a nice Canadian whisky.

Aftertaste: 3.0 – I know this may seem like a dig at Canada, but if you were to tell me this was colored with burnt maple syrup instead of caramel I would believe it.

Burn/Smooth: 3.0 – There is a very unpleasant short burning sensation of which I am very much not a fan.

Aroma: 3.5 – It smells more sweet like a dark rum, but even that you need to get close to – if anything it’s nearly odorless.

Honesty: 3.5 – Again the problem I always have here is that you may not do well on looks and taste, but when you start lying about distinctive flavoring and I can barely detect a flavor at certain points – you lose cred.

Mixability: 5.0

W/ Rocks: 4.0 – The ice will mellow out the drink as a whole, and in doing so it becomes a good drink – but not one I would particularly seek out.

Whiskey and Coke: 6.0 – I will admit that bit of off flavor does actually work well enough hidden inside of coke.

Value: 4.5 – I mean if my goal is to get a whiskey to mix with coke and I am for some reason inclined to go Canadian – this isn’t terrible value.

Final Thoughts: On the off chance the above has not made it crystal clear – this is bad. I want you to leave this site realizing this – that this is truly bad.
