Green Flash Brewing Co. Le Freak Ale

Le Freak Ale: 2.0 – It’s a combo of a Belgian Tripel and an American Imperial IPA (AIIPA?). Which is actually a good description of this beer. It’s got a strong taste, and I’m sure if you liked it would find this amazing. However I can attest that in my small sample size of a few people (damn you p values!) it’s unliekly you will enjoy this beer. It’s hoppy in all the wrong places, has gravity in all the wrong places – it’s a bastardized combo that shouldn’t exist.

Summer Vacation: Beer Camp 2016

Alright campers, time to end our Summer Vacation beer specials with a trip to beer camp. In previous years Beer Camp was an interesting idea where a bunch of breweries collaborated to make a 12 pack of unique beers. This time the field has expanded to include 30+ breweries but for only 6 beers! A fact that may actually come back to haunt this sampler like the ghost stories of our youth.

Victory Wild Devil Ale (IPA)

Victory Wild Devil Ale: 8.0 – First to be fair as a beer overall this is a 6 at best, and I was tricked into thinking it was a wild ale, when in fact it is an IPA – now I’ve tried many IPA’s but eagle eyed viewers will notice we have no reviews of it (which I’m certain ruins our beer and hipster cred) this is because we hate IPA’s. All of them, like as a category they are basically awful. However for this it doesn’t taste like an IPA (read: weed, your shitty beer tastes like weed you West Coast beer nerds) and while it’s certainly as hoppy as say an American pale, it’s not too hoppy, and there’s other flavors going on as well. So in that regards it gets in 8 for being the only good IPA.
