Heroes Veteran Owned American Vodka 750mL

I have to admit after that last vodka review which was a stupidly cheap vodka I was worried my tastes had faltered and I was just more okay with cheap vodka. Thankfully my tastes are right where I left them and we once again have another unkind (but fair) review of some subpar vodka.

Which is unfortunate, because I would really like to get behind a Veteran owned spirit company that gives back to other veterans. It almost feels like attending an event at one of your local Elk lodges and complaining that their meatballs taste like crap. At the end of the day though we have to be honest, and we can just donate separately and know it’s been better spent.

What they Say: “For Heroes, By Heroes. Heroes Vodka is the only 4X distilled American vodka owned by a U.S. Veteran. A portion of all proceeds from the sale of Heroes Vodka is directed to funding well-known veteran organization. Every purchase of Heroes Vodka helps make a difference in the lives of the brave men and women who have sacrificed for our country and our freedom.

Our mission is to supply a leading American-produced vodka and help Veterans get the honor & care they deserve.”

Taste: 2.0 – My god that is awful. I find it hard to think of how it could be worse.

Aftertaste: 0.5 – I was wrong, it got significantly worse.

Burn/Smooth: 1.0 – Oh my that burns, it’s terrible.

Aroma: 3.0 – Again vodka should either be odorless or smell delicious and creamy. Here we have once again though that familiar nail polish remover.

Honesty: 6.0 – This gains many points for being an American vodka that goes to funding veterans. However it’s just so bad that much like the VA it feels like more of a disservice to our heroes than whatever good it’s done.

Mixability: 3.0

Vodka Tonic: 3.0 – You can still taste the badness, and it makes for a bad vodka tonic.

White Russian: 3.0 – That is again a bad mixed drink – you can still taste the vodka and not in a good way.

Value: 4.5 – Listen, there are at least half a dozen vodka’s at a cheaper price point, and you can use that extra money and just donate to http://www.veteransinc.org/donations/ if you want what ‘value’ this provides.

Final Thoughts: An effective 2/7 is a rather poor score to have, but we are at the end of the day a site that objectively reviews alcohol and this is shite vodka.
